Postdoctoral studies on the function of circuits and neuron subtypes (scholarship)

The Meletis laboratory in Neuroscience offers a postdoctoral scholarship in Solna to study neuron subtypes and circuits underlying motivation and decision-making, including mouse models of stress and mood disorders. Work combines genetic and viral labelling, in vivo imaging or optogenetics, and freely moving or head-fixed behavioural experiments in circuits such as the basal ganglia, hypothalamus and dopamine system. Single-cell profiles and connectivity maps support the research. Apply through Varbi by 13 October 2026 with a CV, publication list and one-page research summary.

For incoming foreign researchers living outside Sweden who intend a temporary postdoctoral stay. Residents of Sweden and people who completed any academic education at KI or another Swedish institution are ineligible. A doctorate or equivalent must be completed before the intended start; candidates finishing their doctorate may apply. Scholarships cover at most two years within four years of the doctorate. Extensive circuit/systems neuroscience experience, quantitative methods, statistics, programming and at least one first-author paper are required.
