Royal Society Short Industry Fellowship — 2026 Round 2

The Royal Society supports short exchanges between UK academia and industry to develop research collaborations. Fellowships last three to six months full-time, or up to twelve months at 50% part-time. Funding covers the salary of the applicant and/or a nominated postdoctoral researcher plus research expenses of up to £1,000. Applications for the second 2026 round close on 7 October 2026.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent and a UK university, not-for-profit research organisation or industrial research post extending beyond the fellowship. Natural-science research is eligible, including biological and biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics. Postdoctoral researchers cannot be main applicants, although they may be nominated to undertake the secondment. Royal Society University Research and Dorothy Hodgkin Fellows and self-employed industrial consultants are ineligible. See the official scheme notes for full conditions.
