Artificial Intelligence funding

Undergraduate or graduate-level students registered at Karolinska Institutet or a collaborating university, studying data science, machine learning, engineering or a relevant subject, with strong Python or R skills. The scholarship supports qualifying research education rather than employment.

The appointment authority of a Danish university, hospital or nonprofit research institution applies for an assessed candidate and qualifying faculty offer. Mobility to a new institution is required: normally no more than 12 of the previous 36 months at the host. Internal recruitment is excluded; domestic moves normally require career progression.

Brazilian private, for-profit micro/small companies and qualifying startups, headquartered and managed in Brazil. The coordinator needs a formal company link declared in an updated Lattes CV; the company must be registered with CNPq. Neither the coordinator nor existing company employees may receive these fellowships.

Eligible collaborative teams must follow the current NSF 24-569 PI, organization and submission requirements.

Applicants must meet standard UKRI eligibility requirements and be based at an eligible UK research organisation. Early- and mid-career researchers are particularly encouraged; eligible international researchers may participate through the specified cooperation agreements or as collaborators.

Master’s or PhD students, graduates and early-stage founders with an AI/robotics venture idea. Individuals or teams of at most two may apply; only the primary applicant attends the bootcamp. Bachelor’s graduates may receive exceptional consideration based on fit. Application includes CV(s) and a short pitch.

Senior scholars with a PhD and at least ten years of sustained research. This is not a postdoctoral programme.

Project leads must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding. A person may lead at most one application. The opportunity permits international collaborators as project partners; the UKRI-RCN and UKRI-IIASA co-lead agreements do not apply.

Startups, SMEs, mid-caps, universities and RTOs qualify. University/RTO share is capped at 30%; lifetime FORTIS funding per legal entity is capped at €200,000.

Eligible U.S. startups and small businesses must follow the current NSF 26-510 phase and submission requirements.

Project leads must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding and meet UKRI individual eligibility rules. Research technical professionals may apply as project lead or co-lead; international researchers may participate only through the specified cooperation agreements or as collaborators.

Canadian university applicants and co-applicants must hold an active NSERC peer-reviewed grant as primary applicant; overseas collaborators must be university faculty with their own funding.

The coordinator must hold a PhD and work at an Austrian member institution. Include at least one Austrian and one African member, all with 2026 fees paid. Participants must be PhD students or graduates. One proposal per coordinator; institutional endorsements and own funding are required.

Lead applicants must be based at an eligible UK research organisation. International co-leads are restricted to the UKRI–RCN or UKRI–IIASA agreements; other collaborators join as project partners. The research office submits the application.

Canadian citizens, permanent residents or Protected Persons; eligible research graduate programme at an allocated Canadian institution. Normally 0–12 months of study by December 31; specific transition rules apply. First-class grades normally required, with institutional discretion. Prior agency master’s awards and specified Indigenous master’s awards exclude eligibility; only one CRTAS application per academic year.
