Amazon Research Awards seeks research on useful and dependable AI agents: low/no-code development, human–AI productivity, multi-agent collaboration, scientific discovery, trajectory verification, post-training and responsible operation. Describe the research advance, evaluation plan, open-source contributions and intended AWS ML tools. Use the ARA template, normally no more than four pages excluding appendices. Applications opened 1 October and close 4 November 2026 at 23:59 Pacific Time; decisions are expected in February 2027. Eligible faculty and permanent nonprofit researchers apply through Amazon’s research portal. Only one primary-PI proposal may be submitted across the call period.

Covers: One-time unrestricted institutional gift. Published average funding limits are USD 70,000 cash and USD 50,000 AWS credits; these are averages, not guaranteed individual caps. Final amounts are panel-determined. Exclude administrative overhead from the proposed budget.

Host location: Worldwide

Researchers worldwide may apply, subject to US sanctions/export rules. The programme excludes Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk, and other prohibited jurisdictions.

Full-time faculty at an accredited academic institution or permanent researchers at a legally recognised non-governmental nonprofit. One primary-PI proposal per call period; co-PIs must also qualify. Amazon employment/contracting in the previous 12 months, specified household conflicts and Amazon cloud-procurement authority disqualify applicants. Government employees are excluded except university employees. Applicants must meet age-of-majority and programme rules.
