Develop mathematical algorithms and research software for the Magma computer algebra system in John Voight’s team. The Simons Foundation-supported collaboration with MIT includes theoretical and algorithmic publications, research datasets, and exploration of AI for mathematical programming, verification, documentation and software interaction. Two full-time positions are advertised, each lasting three years. Annual salary is AUD 113,634–157,381 plus 17% superannuation.
Requirements
A relevant PhD, computational mathematics or computer-algebra expertise, algorithm design experience and strong programming skills are required. C/C++ and Linux or comparable systems experience is expected; Magma experience is desirable. Research travel is part of the role.
