About
Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time teaching faculty position in Engineering Science at the Assistant Professor level, starting in summer or fall 2027 pending budgetary approval, outside the tenure structure, with an initial appointment of up to three years and potential renewal. The appointee will play a major role in developing a new undergraduate Engineering Science major, which integrates engineering with the natural sciences, arts, humanities, social sciences and business: teaching required courses in Engineering Process and Engineering Science and upper-level electives, advising undergraduates, taking part in ABET accreditation and collaborating with faculty across the university.
The appointee may be affiliated with a science department close to their discipline. Areas of particular interest include bio- and biomedical engineering, robotics, materials science, environmental engineering, design and manufacturing, and engineering education. Salary range $85,000–$100,000 (nine-month).
Requirements
PhD in any engineering discipline, with excellence in university-level engineering teaching and enthusiasm for collaborative, project-based teaching; experience teaching a senior capstone design course is an asset. Submit a cover letter, a detailed CV, a statement of three to four pages on teaching philosophy, engineering experience and interests and the ethical, professional and societal responsibilities of engineering, with descriptions of a Senior Capstone Design course and an upper-level Engineering Science course you might teach, plus contact details for three recommenders. First consideration is given to applications submitted by 6 December 2026, and review continues until the position is filled.
