About
The Department of Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä seeks a doctoral researcher for 18 January 2027–30 September 2029 in the Planetary Mind research project funded by the Strategic Research Council. Planetary Mind examines how environmental agency — the capacity to make sustainable choices in everyday life — affects mental health across age groups: it studies the significance of environmental agency for mental health, generates knowledge on individual and community environmental agency as a psychosocial resource for participation and well-being, and develops and evaluates scalable, participatory and digitally supported approaches to strengthening environmental agency and mental health in everyday life.
Working in a multidisciplinary consortium team, the doctoral researcher prepares a dissertation on the project's themes, collects and analyses quantitative and qualitative data, publishes and collaborates with the project's research and stakeholder networks; teaching may take up to 5% of annual working time. The starting salary is approximately €2,700 per month (gross), with a six-month trial period. Applications are due by 18 November 2026.
Requirements
A suitable Master's degree (e.g. psychology, social sciences or health sciences) and readiness to apply for doctoral study rights in the doctoral programme in psychology in spring 2027 (PsyD or PhD eligibility); competence in quantitative methods and statistical analysis (SPSS, R or Mplus); collaboration skills; excellent English; interest in mental health and behaviour change. Fluency in Finnish and qualitative-methods experience are advantages.
