FMI PhD Program – autumn 2026 recruitment round

The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) in Basel recruits doctoral students into its PhD program, which offers biomedical research in its three areas of Neurobiology, Genome Regulation and Multicellular Systems, access to technology platforms, courses at the FMI and the University of Basel, thesis advisory committee mentoring and career development support. Students work with internationally recognised group leaders, and the institute is affiliated with the University of Basel and Novartis.

The autumn recruitment round opened on 1 September 2026 and closes on 15 November 2026; interviews take place on 20-21 January 2027.

University master's degree or equivalent in the life sciences or a related field, as required for doctoral admission at the University of Basel; applications through the FMI PhD program application form.
