About
The Department of Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks a tenure-track or tenured Assistant or Associate Professor who uses computational approaches to study fundamental questions in neuroscience. Computational neuroscience is defined broadly, including biophysical and statistical modelling, computational neurogenetics, neural population codes and the intersection of biological intelligence and AI ("NeuroAI"); preference goes to programmes that integrate experimental (including multi-modal) data to address basic and translational neuroscience, with minimal or no wet-lab component.
The appointee will build an externally funded research programme, teach neuroscience and/or quantitative biology, and join a new Quantitative Biology Initiative and Predictive Biology Hub for Human and Environmental Health, with links to AIM, the Brain and Behavior Institute, UMIACS and the Institute for Systems Research.
Requirements
PhD required at the time of appointment. Preferences: strong publication record and promise or record of external funding, commitment to teaching and mentoring, and open, reproducible computational neuroscience research (commensurate with rank). Application: cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching statement and contact information for three references. UMD will not sponsor work authorization in the United States now or in the future.
