PhD scholarship in Catalytic CO₂ Conversion to Carbon Nanotubes - DTU Physics

Technical University of Denmark

About

A three-year PhD project at DTU Physics to discover catalytic materials that convert CO₂ directly into carbon nanotubes, combining climate-change mitigation with sustainable production of an advanced functional material. Carbon nanotubes are valued for their strength, low weight, electrical conductivity and thermal stability, but conventional production relies on fossil-derived feedstocks with a substantial carbon footprint. The project aims to establish a new catalytic route for carbon utilisation. Expected start: 1 March 2027 or by agreement.

Requirements

A two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics, nanotechnology or a related field; experience with catalysis, materials synthesis, electron microscopy or characterisation is an advantage.
