About

A postdoctoral fellow in the Torii Lab, Department of Molecular Biosciences at The University of Texas at Austin, will lead independent, hypothesis-driven research on plant development and signalling mechanisms that enable adaptation to extreme environments, including underwater conditions. The fellow will lead a small team using molecular genetics, genome editing, cell biology and genomics, epigenomics and proteomics to unravel the regulatory network by which the amphibious plant Rorippa aquatica reprograms epidermal (stomatal) development when submerged, and will establish and optimise efficient genome-editing pipelines in this emerging model species.

Duties include data analysis and bioinformatic pipelines, collaborative development of the editing system, rigorous record keeping, and contributions to grant proposals. This is a temporary training position renewable annually for up to five years.

Requirements

PhD received within the past three years; experience in molecular genetics, genome editing, molecular and cell biology and genomics; ability to design hypothesis-driven research plans and lead a small team.
