Postdoctoral Project Researcher in AI-enhanced Theoretical Physics

Work with Leander Thiele at Kavli IPMU on theoretical physics and agentic AI. The project develops and evaluates systems that integrate researchers’ private data into scientific workflows, alongside independent physics research. An April 2027 start is preferred but negotiable. The contract can continue to March 2030, with a possible extension to September 2030 depending on funding and start date. The stated submission deadline is 1 December 2026; later applications may also be reviewed.

PhD in physics or a related subject by appointment. Physics research strength is central; LLM experience is valued but not essential. Submit English-language application documents and at least three reference letters.
