Postdoctoral Research Associate - Data Science for Materials Characterization

Combine materials characterization and data science to assess components produced by advanced manufacturing. Work in ORNL's Manufacturing Systems Analytics Group includes developing analytical methods, applying computational techniques to characterization data, supporting research projects and publishing results. The appointment is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, for up to 24 months, with possible extension dependent on performance and funding.

PhD in materials science or a closely related field earned within five years of application, completed before appointment. Experience with microscopy, XRD, EBSD or X-ray CT and programming in Python or modern C-family languages. Visa sponsorship is unavailable. Three references and eligibility for federal laboratory access are required.
