Postdoctoral Research Associate - Materials Processing Group
Materials Science, Metallurgy and Solid Mechanics postdoctoral appointment (up to 24 months) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
About
Study how alloy design and processing affect the microstructure and mechanical performance of refractory and other high-temperature alloys for nuclear and space applications. Work includes fabrication, scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction and collaboration with alloy-development teams. The initial appointment can last up to 24 months; extensions depend on performance and funding.
Requirements
A materials-science, metallurgical-engineering or related PhD completed within five years, with hands-on microscopy and understanding of processing-driven microstructural evolution. Three references are requested. Visa sponsorship is unavailable. Candidates must qualify for export-controlled access without an export licence and satisfy DOE access and federal identity/background requirements.
