About

Three-year, fully funded postdoctoral position at Reykjavík University in the FrostShield research project, funded by Rannís, developing AI-supported cyber defence for small and medium-sized enterprises within the Frostbyte research centre. FrostShield combines lightweight, privacy-aware monitoring with machine-learning methods for threat detection, attacker modelling and automated adaptive response, keeps these methods understandable and usable so that they support rather than replace human decision-making, and integrates monitoring, analysis and response into a coherent system deployable in real-world environments.

The postdoc researches machine-learning techniques for attacker modelling and the design of adaptive response strategies, supports coordination across work packages, mentors junior researchers, and contributes to publications and software outputs with academic and industry partners.

Requirements

A PhD in cybersecurity, computer science, machine learning or a related field; a strong background in cybersecurity and/or applied machine learning; proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks; a strong publication record in top-tier venues. Desirable: adversarial machine learning, intrusion detection and attacker modelling, privacy-preserving techniques and explainable AI, and experience in collaborative or interdisciplinary projects. Applications include a CV, a short cover letter, up to three relevant publications and contact details for two to three references.
