Postdoctoral researcher in environmental microbial ecology

A two-year postdoc (1 February 2027 to 31 January 2029) in the Section for Microbiology, Department of Biology, Aarhus University, funded by the Villum Foundation’s Villum Experiment programme. Electrically conductive iron minerals are widespread in anoxic aquatic sediments, yet little is known about the microorganisms living on them. The project characterises the phylogenetic identity and ecophysiology of bacteria and archaea associated with these minerals, testing whether extracellular electron transfer makes them a distinct niche that enriches electroactive microorganisms relative to the surrounding sediment.
