About

In an NWO VICI-funded project at CARIM (Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht), this postdoc investigates mesenchymal cells and their metabolism in vascular ageing, which accelerates cardiovascular disease and has no treatment. Because the first signs of ageing occur in the perivascular layer, the project aims to reset fibroblast function and metabolism to rescue vascular dysfunction in ageing, hypertension and atherosclerosis, combining multi-omics with functional and metabolic studies in cells, tissues and small animal models, with optional single-cell sequencing analysis. The postdoc joins the group of Prof. Judith Sluimer in the Pathology department.

The closing date is 15 November 2026.

Requirements

PhD in biology, health sciences or medicine; demonstrable research experience in cardiovascular research and related topics such as vascular ageing, atherosclerosis and/or fibroblast metabolism.
