About

A collaborative team across the University of Utah, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara is studying how disturbances affect terrestrial carbon cycling in the continental United States and Canada. Based in the Trugman Lab at UC Santa Barbara, this postdoctoral scholar will work at the interface of disturbance ecology, forest dynamics and ecosystem modelling, leading the development and validation of vegetation models for key disturbance processes and integrating remote-sensing products and existing datasets into a mechanistic modelling framework, as one of a cohort of four postdocs.

The two-year appointment starts on 4 January 2027 or later, with a salary range of $71,491-$82,677.

Requirements

PhD, or all PhD requirements except the dissertation, in ecology, environmental science, forestry, Earth system science or a closely related field at application; PhD completed by the start date. Experience running land surface or process-based vegetation models and developing new model processes is preferred.
