Atmospheric Science, Climate Science and Mathematical Modeling fixed-term contract position at Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry
Apply by Tuesday, Nov 10
Closing time not stated; check the source.
About
Develop atmospheric inversions of methane and nitrous oxide to constrain greenhouse-gas sources and sinks at high latitudes. The project combines CarboScope transport and inversion modelling with Arctic and Canadian observations, isotopic measurements and satellite data to investigate carbon-climate feedbacks and permafrost regions. The appointment lasts twelve months, with a start between January and April 2027, TVöD Bund remuneration and the possibility of part-time work.
Topics
- atmospheric inversions
- methane
- nitrous oxide
- greenhouse-gas sources and sinks
- CarboScope
- inversion modelling
- isotopic measurements
- permafrost regions
Requirements
A doctorate in atmospheric or natural sciences; experience with atmospheric transport, inverse optimization or time-series analysis; scientific programming is advantageous. Scientific English is required. Applications are accepted through the email or postal procedure described in the vacancy.
