About

The Center for Craniofacial Innovation at the CHOP Research Institute seeks a postdoctoral fellow in craniofacial developmental biology, genetics and gene therapy, working from fundamental discovery towards first-in-human treatments. Using mouse, zebrafish and human embryonic stem cell disease models, the fellow will dissect the developmental genetic basis of craniofacial malformations and help develop new diagnostics and gene-modifying therapies, several of which are progressing towards clinical-trial readiness.

Methods include multi-omics, CRISPR and base editing, iPSCs, single-cell RNA-seq, CUT&RUN, cell transplants, FACS, live confocal imaging, transgenics and chemical screening, with links to the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine and the Center for Gene and Cell Therapy. The position sits in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, and includes training in lab management, grant writing and scientific communication.

Requirements

Strong experimental foundation in mouse genetics, gene editing and developmental and cell biology (mandatory); computational analysis skills in R, Python and/or MATLAB desirable; working knowledge of recombinant DNA methods, genomics and microscopy.
