About
The Stem Cell Core at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, an independent research institute on the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine campus in Baltimore studying how genes and environment shape brain development in disorders such as schizophrenia, autism and bipolar disorder, seeks a staff scientist experienced in human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and iPSC-derived neuronal models. The scientist performs hiPSC reprogramming, culture and differentiation into brain cell types, builds neuronal and disease models of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, assists with postmortem dural fibroblast culture and the cell-line repository, prepares cell materials for researchers, and trains and supports internal researchers on stem-cell projects.
Starting salary range $70,000-$80,000.
Requirements
PhD in cell and molecular biology, neuroscience or a closely related field; cellular and molecular biology experience; at least three years of experience in hiPSC-derived neuronal culture and/or brain disease modelling; strong troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills; flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends and holidays as the culture schedule requires. A plus: brain organoid culture, genome engineering of hiPSCs, single-cell or spatial transcriptomics, and large-cohort hiPSC disease modelling.
