Tenure-Track Assistant Professorship in Theoretical Quantum Condensed Matter Physics

The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in theoretical quantum condensed matter physics. The department hosts research in nano and quantum physics, cosmology and particle physics, and the University is home to the Swiss Nanoscience Institute and the National Centres of Competence in Research SPIN and PRECISION. The new professor will run an excellent research programme and teach at all levels; synergies with Basel research in quantum condensed matter physics and quantum technologies are advantageous.

The tenure-track system includes a tenure review after five years and a pathway to full professorship. Applications, with three confidential reference letters requested during online submission, are due by 16 November 2026.

PhD in physics or equivalent; outstanding theorist with proven expertise in quantum condensed matter physics; excellent record of research achievements and publications.
