University Assistant Post-Doc: Mid-IR Gas Sensing (CoE MicroPlanet)

Postdoctoral position in the Research Group for Process Analytics at TU Wien's Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics, linked to the Cluster of Excellence MicroPlanet. Research centres on laser-based gas sensing in the mid-infrared: developing and operating optical setups, writing software for instrument control, automation and data analysis, and applying tunable diode laser spectroscopy to trace-gas detection and environmental monitoring.

The postholder publishes independently, presents at international conferences, teaches and supervises students, and contributes to interdisciplinary projects. Full-time (40 hours per week) until 30 September 2028, with a minimum gross salary of EUR 5,014.30, 14 times a year.

Doctorate in chemistry, physics or a related field; strong theoretical and practical optics/photonics; hands-on tunable diode laser spectroscopy; optical alignment and instrument operation; trace-gas detection and/or environmental monitoring; programming for automation and analysis (e.g. MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW); publication record; English at C1.
