Abstract
Observations with instruments including JWST and SKA motivate simulations of the first cosmic structures and the epoch of reionization. This seminar explains why the physics and observability of these early objects strain conventional astrophysical models, and describes the alternative tools and numerical methods being developed to interpret forthcoming data.
