Abstract

Evan Wickenden studies remote detectability and braiding in three-dimensional fracton phases, where excitations have restricted mobility. The talk introduces planon-modular orders, in which braiding with a planon detects every excitation, and derives structural consequences. For Abelian planons, a stronger excitation-detector principle yields classification results. The discussion extends these tools towards a general description of braiding and remote detection in Abelian fracton and other gapped phases.
