Abstract

Rapidly rotating black holes provide a demanding setting for testing higher-curvature corrections to general relativity. This seminar combines numerical black-hole backgrounds with pseudo-spectral methods to compute shifts in scalar quasinormal modes for several effective theories of gravity. It examines how the corrections change with spin, including their growth near the extremal limit.
