Abstract
Hart Goldman examines superconductors that support both vortices and fractionally charged anyons. A perpendicular field forces vortices to trap anyons, restricting their winding and replacing the usual superconducting flux quantum with hc/e. A Landau–Ginzburg description of the coupled vortices explains how increasing magnetic field can produce unusual insulating phases containing neutral anyons and a finite thermal Hall response.
