What is the QCD axion mass?

Recording

Abstract

The mass expected for QCD-axion dark matter depends strongly on its production history. This seminar reviews lattice simulations of axion-string networks after inflation and the mass range inferred in that scenario. It contrasts those results with string-theory axions, where strings need not form, and discusses how grand-unified assumptions can change the anticipated mass scales.
