Join the High-Energy Astrophysics group led by Kirpal Nandra to study galaxy clusters and cosmology, active galactic nuclei, accreting compact objects, transients or hot diffuse gas. Research draws on major X-ray programmes including eROSITA and Einstein Probe. The three-year positions are available immediately and are paid according to TVöD, up to E14 depending on qualifications.

Active nuclei and primordial quasars
Françoise Combes · Professor at the Collège de France
Mon, Jan 9, 2023 · 15:45 UTC
This lecture explores the growth of central black holes through gas accretion and galaxy mergers. It relates active galactic nuclei to their stellar surroundings and focuses on the puzzle posed by very massive quasars observed early in cosmic history. Explaining their rapid assembly is a central theme.
