Changes of Nlrp3 inflammasome regulation in the frontal cortex induced by voluntary wheel running in ovariectomized female adult mice

Konstancja Grabowska, Mateusz Grabowski, Julia Morys, Magdalena Kostka, Jarosław Jerzy Barski, Marta Nowacka-Chmielewska · FENS Forum 2024

Estrogens regulate a variety of processes in the central nervous system (CNS), including inflammatory responses. Therefore, postmenopause, a hypoestrogenic state, may contribute to an increased risk of developing neuroinflammatory-related disorders. Thus, it is proposed to introduce lifestyle changes that could have beneficial effects on the CNS. Regular, moderate physical activity is being considered as a potential intervention for preventing disruption of the neuroinflammation process. The aim was to investigate the impact of voluntary wheel running on neuroinflammation, including Nlrp3 infl

Type I interferon (IFN-I) is a pivotal cytokine of the innate immune response, playing a significant role in the pathophysiology of inflammation-induced damage in the central nervous system (CNS). Enhanced, constitutive IFN-I signaling is a defining feature of a number of Mendelian inborn errors of immunity, which are coined type I interferonopathies. However, understanding the pathophysiology of these disorders is hindered by the inability of numerous animal models to replicate the neurological phenotype essential for these diseases. Fortunately, we have recently generated and characterized t
