Investigate plasticity and fracture near interfaces between dissimilar phases in engineering metals and ceramics, including cryogenic and high-temperature conditions. Develop electron-microscopy strain-mapping approaches within the Mechanical Properties Group. The initial one-year appointment may be renewed up to five years. Start is 1 October 2026 or later by agreement, and recruitment continues until a qualified candidate is found.

Tenure-track or tenured faculty recruitment focused on synthesis, processing and consolidation of powder-based metals and ceramics. Priorities include atomization, milling, heat transfer, solidification and microstructure evolution, with links to the Center for Alloy and Powder Synthesis. Duties include independent funded research, teaching, mentoring and service. The nine-month academic appointment is expected to begin 1 August 2027. Full consideration is by 30 November 2026, with later applications considered until filled.
