Learning requires the formation or modification of neural circuits – an extraordinary showcase of the brain’s plasticity. Despite an established appreciation for the reorganizational capabilities of the brain, the exact mechanisms that enable experience-dependent plasticity remain unknown. The goal of this work is to uncover how circuitry of the auditory cortex (AC) facilitates learning of an auditory-driven maternal retrieval behavior in mice. Mouse pups emit ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) when they are separated from the nest which cues maternal retrieval - a learned response to these distr

Functional positron emission tomography (fPET) imaging using [18F]FDG serves as an index of neuronal activity independent of neurovascular coupling (Villien 2014). However, its absolute quantification through arterial blood sampling requires substantial resources (Hahn 2016). We investigate whether task-specific metabolism can be assessed without blood sampling.52 healthy subjects (23.2 ± 3.3 years, 24 female) performed Tetris® during an [18F]FDG fPET scan. Data acquisition, processing and analysis was performed as in (Hahn 2020). The general linear model (GLM) was used to identify task-specif

The success of Large Language Models (LLM) has led to controversial hypotheses about emergent intelligence beyond language competence, amongst which Theory of Mind (ToM) has become the most debated. While some reported gpt-4 to pass the Sally-Anne test, others reported limitations. Here we aim to validate LLM ability to recognise ToM occurrences in natural human dialogue using the activity of ToM-associated brain regions. The current analysis uses an existing corpus of 25 participants recorded with functional MRI while carrying conversations in 4 sessions x 6 trials alternating a Human and a Ro

Aims: Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) processing may vary depending on the pre-processing steps, analysis strategy, thresholding and, therefore, the software itself. Pre-processing has been optimized in the pipeline fMRIPrep; however, the pipeline does not have a clinician-friendly interface and requires additional analysis steps to be performed elsewhere. We compare the results of language lateralization from fMRI when processed start-to-finish using two different popular open-source software packages, SPM12 and FSL or when preprocessed with fMRIPrep. Methods: Patients with epilep
