Topic: public impact

This fellowship connects research on climate, energy and environmental issues with policy and public impact. Fellows undertake a mentored research project and an impact-focused capstone while joining interdisciplinary training, retreats and peer-support activities. The programme develops skills in policy translation, public communication, community engagement and research leadership. It provides salary and benefits plus a $6,000 research-support stipend. Rolling support for collaborative natural-sciences and engineering research driven by a societal challenge. Projects combine academic expertise, partner participation and affected communities’ perspectives, explaining how people will use the resulting knowledge, technologies, services or policies. Applications use NSERC’s online system and are assessed for public impact and research merit. Partner cash is not mandatory, but active involvement and in-kind contributions are required. Only costs incurred after award approval can be supported.
