QGIS: An Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Mar 1–10, 2027

Learn geographic information systems through QGIS, with applications for biology, environmental sciences and other disciplines requiring spatial analysis. Guided demonstrations and exercises cover coordinate systems, vector and raster data, layer management and symbology. Participants perform spatial queries, clipping, intersections, buffers and area calculations, then use raster calculations and extract values for vector features. The course develops cartographic layout and export skills through a thematic map assembled progressively into a final project. 1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 March 2027, each 1

Investigations of transcriptomic and neuroimaging data imply that the spatial patterning of the brain transcriptome follows broad spatial trends in the brain network architecture, which can be used to study the molecular mechanisms of functional connectivity. However, the sophisticated pre-processing and data fusion workflows involved in heteromodal data analysis often require the expertise of computer scientists. There is a need for tools that facilitate this process to enable research without the need for extensive programming knowledge. To address this problem, we present an extension to ou
