QGIS: An Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Geoinformatics, Cartography, Data Science and workshop
About
Learn geographic information systems through QGIS, with applications for biology, environmental sciences and other disciplines requiring spatial analysis. Guided demonstrations and exercises cover coordinate systems, vector and raster data, layer management and symbology. Participants perform spatial queries, clipping, intersections, buffers and area calculations, then use raster calculations and extract values for vector features. The course develops cartographic layout and export skills through a thematic map assembled progressively into a final project.
1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 March 2027, each 15:00–18:00, Europe/Madrid (CET, UTC+1). Fifteen live hours plus seven hours of individual work. English; no previous GIS experience required. Sixteen places. EUR 366 through 31 December 2026, then EUR 445; Ambassador Institution fees EUR 292.80 and EUR 356, respectively. Live attendance is required for the certificate. Payment follows acceptance; advertised fees include VAT.
