In Probability Theory and Mathematics

Broader

The 46th Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications brings the international probability community to Melbourne to discuss the theory and applications of stochastic processes. The annual series operates under the patronage of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, a section of the International Statistical Institute. Monash University’s School of Mathematics hosts the 2027 edition, represented by Tim Garoni. The five-day meeting continues the series of international conferences devoted to stochastic-process research.

Conference · Probability Theory

The school introduces non-equilibrium statistical physics and stochastic processes as tools for noisy, dynamic systems. Lectures cover transport, carbon nanostructures and carbon nanotubes, theoretical and experimental biophysics, and connections between non-equilibrium physics and problems spanning cosmology to living systems. It is designed for master's and doctoral students and early-career postdoctoral researchers, requiring little prior experience of these advanced topics. Participants submit poster abstracts. There is no registration fee; limited attendance grants prioritize participants

Trickle-Down in Localization Schemes

Frederic Koehler · University of Chicago

Localization schemes offer a framework for proving functional inequalities governing Markov chains. This talk introduces the Chen–Eldan approach and shows how local-to-global arguments from high-dimensional expansion fit within it. Examples illustrate the connection and its use in analysing stochastic processes.
