Workshop

Surfaces in Trieste, Workshop on Two-Dimensional Dynamics

About

Surfaces in Trieste brings together researchers in two-dimensional dynamics, connecting surface dynamics with topology, geometry and related fields. The first week (26-30 April 2027) offers five five-hour mini-courses introducing current directions in surface dynamics; the second week (3-7 May 2027) is a research conference with invited lectures and scientific exchange. Topics include topological and differentiable surface dynamics, fine curve graphs and big mapping class groups, symplectic dynamics and twist maps, rotation theory, flat surfaces, and symbolic dynamics and inverse limits. The activity aims to connect established experts with students and early-career researchers, promote collaboration across disciplines and strengthen participation by scientists from developing countries. There is no registration fee; a limited number of grants support selected participants, with priority for developing countries, and applicants from listed developed countries may request travel support subject to available funds.
