Polar Marine Science
Oxnard, United States
The meeting examines disputed and unresolved questions about rapidly changing Arctic and Southern oceans. It brings circulation, ecology and biogeochemistry together to consider sea-ice loss, freshwater inputs, deep-water formation, primary production and climate-active aerosols. Sessions emphasize why these processes remain difficult to measure and explain, including feedbacks on planetary reflectivity and atmospheric composition. Comparisons with ancient ice-covered oceans and oceans on other worlds broaden the discussion. Attendance requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or an accepted equivalent. Applications are subject to selection and available capacity.

International Symposium on Ice Sheets, Glaciers, and the Atmosphere
Utrecht, Netherlands
The symposium investigates how exchanges between land ice and the atmosphere control glacier mass balance and sea-level contributions. Surface energy, albedo, firn hydrology, aquifers and impermeable ice layers are considered alongside atmospheric circulation and boundary-layer processes. Field observations, satellite measurements, numerical models and machine-learning emulators will be used to examine nonlinear feedbacks and improve projections of ice-sheet and glacier change. The International Glaciological Society convenes researchers studying both local surface processes and their representation in climate models.
