Rolling support for collaborative natural-sciences and engineering research driven by a societal challenge. Projects combine academic expertise, partner participation and affected communities’ perspectives, explaining how people will use the resulting knowledge, technologies, services or policies. Applications use NSERC’s online system and are assessed for public impact and research merit. Partner cash is not mandatory, but active involvement and in-kind contributions are required. Only costs incurred after award approval can be supported.

NSERC-eligible Canadian university researchers; eligible academic co-applicants may join, including college faculty. At least one qualifying private, public or not-for-profit partner must actively participate and contribute in kind. Consult NSERC before submission.
