Utilizing the Full Power of Empire AI
Description
The Simons Foundation invites two-year research proposals that use Empire AI's multinode GPU clusters to address fundamental questions in computational astrophysics and physics, computational biology, mathematics, neuroscience or computational physical chemistry. Proposals must develop and use foundational machine-learning models for the scientific problem; data curation may be considered only when the resulting data are used to solve scientific problems within the same proposal. The programme expects to fund six to twelve awards from a total budget of six million US dollars.
Eligibility
The lead principal investigator must hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at Columbia University, Cornell University, CUNY, SUNY, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York University, the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology or the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Additional principal investigators may participate through subcontracts from eligible U.S. or non-U.S. nonprofit or public research organisations. All applicants and key collaborators must hold a PhD, MD or equivalent degree and a faculty or equivalent research position.
