Job Description

NIMS is recruiting several permanent researchers for fundamental, foundational and applied materials research. Priority areas include hydrogen and battery materials, quantum and semiconductor materials, magnetic and structural materials, inorganic nanomaterials, polymers and biomaterials, data-driven materials development and advanced characterization. The appointment is expected to begin on 1 April 2027, subject to discussion.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or expect to obtain one before appointment
  • be able to communicate and write about research in English
  • and meet NIMS employment eligibility rules. The application requires the position-specific CV
  • application and publication-count forms
  • up to three representative papers
  • applicable English-test evidence
  • and two referee submissions by the deadline.
