Delft, Netherlands
Apply by · 39 days left
About
The ERC ICE-FLOE project studies unresolved ocean–sea-ice interactions that limit climate predictions. The postdoc will couple large-eddy ocean simulations with discrete-element sea-ice models to investigate melting, breakage and turbulence, compare results with Arctic and Antarctic observations, and develop parameterisations for global climate models. The role includes international collaboration and a possible Antarctic research cruise. The temporary appointment lasts one to three years at 38–40 hours weekly, with a listed salary range of €3,546–€5,538.
The intended start is January–March 2027, with some flexibility.
Requirements
PhD in oceanography, cryospheric, climate or atmospheric science; independent research ability and strong English. LES, turbulence and Julia experience are advantages. Submit CV/publications, a 2–3-page motivation letter, MSc transcripts and a thesis or suitable draft through the employer portal.
