Climate Technologies & Carbon Recovery | Measuring the Effectiveness of Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal

David Snyder · DeepGreen Solutions

Wed, Oct 14 · 16:00 UTC · Online

Reducing greenhouse-gas emissions alone does not remove the excess carbon dioxide already present in the atmosphere. This talk surveys marine carbon dioxide removal approaches that use the ocean’s capacity to absorb CO₂ and explains instrumentation for evaluating their effectiveness. David Snyder describes DeepGreen Solutions’ Carbon Ocean-Based Atmospheric Linked Telemetry (COBALT) measurement…

Postdoctoral Scholar Program — 2027–2028

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution · Woods Hole, USA

Closes in 3 days

Eighteen-month postdoctoral research appointments in ocean sciences and engineering, including chemistry, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, biology, economics and marine policy. Scholars conduct independent research with WHOI scientific or senior technical staff; the 2027 competition also includes Marine Policy and Ocean Carbon Cycling awards. Annual stipend is at least USD 73,000, with relocation, health and welfare allowances and an independent research budget. Appointments start between 1 January and 1 October 2027; scholars must reside at WHOI for at least two-thirds of the appointment. Applications are open and close on 15 October 2026. Contacting potential scientific sponsors in advance is strongly recommended.

Postdoc in Ocean - Sea Ice Interactions

TU Delft · Delft, Netherlands

Closes

The ERC ICE-FLOE project studies unresolved ocean–sea-ice interactions that limit climate predictions. The postdoc will couple large-eddy ocean simulations with discrete-element sea-ice models to investigate melting, breakage and turbulence, compare results with Arctic and Antarctic observations, and develop parameterisations for global climate models. The role includes international collaboration and a possible Antarctic research cruise. The temporary appointment lasts one to three years at 38–40 hours weekly, with a listed salary range of €3,546–€5,538. The intended start is January–March 2027, with some flexibility.

Ralph Brown Expedition Award — 2026 Application Round

Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)

Closes · Eligibility not stated

An annual award of up to GBP 15,000 supports an experienced researcher leading an expedition in an aquatic environment, including coral reefs, rivers, lakes or shallow seas. Projects should benefit the host country and, where possible, local communities. Applications for the current round close on 16 November 2026.
