The annual GSA meeting brings the international geoscience community to Denver on 11–14 October 2026. AGU26 brings the Earth and space science community to San Francisco on 7–11 December 2026 for research presentations, scientific exchange, workshops and professional development. The programme spans Earth, planetary and space sciences, with opportunities for collaboration across disciplines. Registration and housing are currently open. The organizer lists 29 September as the late-breaking abstract deadline; the standard abstract round has already closed. The EGU General Assembly 2027 will take place in Vienna and online from 4–9 April 2027, bringing together researchers across Earth, planetary and space sciences. The organizer’s current invitation is for scientific session proposals, with submissions due on 23 September 2026. This stage allows the community to shape the scientific programme. The official assembly website provides the session-proposal instructions and will carry subsequent abstract, attendance and registration information. The physical venue is the Austria Center Vienna.

A four-year funded doctoral project in the Engineering Geology group investigates debris-flow motion and natural-hazard risk. Analyse point clouds and camera measurements to estimate flow velocity and depth, carry out fieldwork at five sites, and develop methods for understanding sediment movement. The position is expected to start in January 2027. Applications are open until 1 October 2026 through the employer’s online portal; submit a motivation letter, CV, transcripts and two reference contacts.

The Simons Foundation's Mathematics and Physical Sciences division invites letters of intent for fundamental research addressing scientific knowledge gaps relevant to solar radiation management. Priorities include environmentally benign materials for stratospheric aerosol injection and cirrus-cloud thinning, laboratory physicochemical characterization, approaches to minimize cirrus formation, near-field turbulence modelling, and integration of improved aerosol and turbulence representations into global models. In-situ aerosol-release field experiments and social-science research are outside the call's scope.

This AGU26 award supports early- and mid-career geoscience faculty at under-resourced institutions who need financial help to attend the annual conference in San Francisco. Awards provide up to USD 1,700 for travel, together with professional development and networking opportunities. Recipients are expected to review student presentations and participate in programme evaluation. Eligible applicants are primarily employed at a US two-year college or four-year undergraduate institution, or an under-resourced international institution, and must comply with AGU conduct and conflict-of-interest policies.
