Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher — Neural Circuits and Computations (26-1512)

Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience and Machine Learning postdoctoral researcher or research scientist position at RIKEN Center for Brain Science

Deadline not stated
Wako, Saitama, Japan · On-site

About

Investigate the computational principles of dreaming in Louis Kang’s Neural Circuits and Computations Unit at RIKEN Center for Brain Science. Research combines biological neural-network models, machine learning and neural-data analysis, addressing how circuits generate dreams, what dream computations contribute to biological systems, and whether they can inspire artificial models. The project collaborates with experimental groups across animal species through the Scientific Dream Interpretation initiative.

The role is based at RIKEN’s Wako campus and normally requires on-site work. A one-year contract can be renewed following evaluation up to 31 July 2030. Initial monthly salary plus discretionary-work allowance is at least JPY 382,610 for a postdoctoral researcher or JPY 448,990 for a research scientist. The postdoctoral category applies within five years of the doctorate; the research-scientist category applies after five years.
