Job Description

The Centre for Origin and Prevalence of Life invites applications for interdisciplinary research on the origins and prevalence of life. Up to one fellow will be selected for a 2027 start. Funding covers three years; a fourth year requires a successful midterm review and funding committed by the host professors. Fellows participate in the Centre and its research networks and may undertake agreed teaching duties. The deadline is 6 November 2026 at 17:00 Swiss local time.

The online application requires a project proposal, CV, proof of thesis submission, a host invitation with financial commitment, and the specified ethics and conduct documents. Two external reference letters must arrive separately by the deadline.

Requirements

  • PhD thesis submitted by application
  • normally within three years of the doctorate
  • with justified exceptions considered
  • existing affiliation to a research institution. Hosts must be Centre members and at least one must have an ETH appointment covering the fellowship. Follow the full host
