A full-time residential, NSF-funded appointment with Ethan Levien and Daniel Schultz, starting 1 January 2027 or earlier by agreement. Study antibiotic-driven phenotypic diversity in bacteria using stochastic models and experimental single-cell growth and gene-expression data. Laboratory work is not required. Optional teaching of one or two ten-week courses depends on availability and qualifications, with salary adjusted accordingly. Requirements
PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, quantitative biology, physics or a related discipline before appointment, with strength in stochastic processes and theoretical biology.
