Mathematics Postdoctoral Positions - 2027

ICTP's Mathematics section in Trieste offers postdoctoral fellowships starting in 2027 for young mathematicians with a strong research record. Fellows pursue their own research and take part in mathematics activities across the Trieste network of ICTP, the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) and the University of Trieste; duties also include tutorials for Postgraduate Diploma students, seminar organisation and other section activities. Fellowships last 24 months with a possible 12-month extension and a negotiable start date. Each comes with a tax-free monthly stipend of 2,100 to 2,300 euros depending on seniority, a travel grant of 2,000 euros per year, a pension contribution, allowances for family members and health insurance. Preference goes to candidates who will benefit most from time at ICTP, will interact with local scientists and visitors, and are from and working in developing countries.

Young mathematicians with a strong research record who have completed a PhD in mathematics before the fellowship starts. Women are particularly encouraged to apply. Preference is given to candidates who will benefit most from ICTP's facilities and activities, will contribute to the Centre's intellectual life, and are from and working in developing countries. Applications through the ICTP online system require three letters of recommendation from established researchers; incomplete applications are not considered.
