About

Up to two postdoctoral research associates in pure mathematics join the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics to develop and conduct an individual research programme, usually in association with one of the departmental research groups and with a faculty mentor. There may be opportunities to lecture at Master's level, assist with student research projects or deliver small-group teaching, and postholders plan and manage their own research and administration.

Posts start on 1 October 2027 (or by agreement with the Head of Department), are funded for three years in the first instance at Grade 7 (£38,448 per annum), and include an annual research allowance of up to £7,000. Online interviews are expected in mid-January 2027.

Requirements

An internationally outstanding research record; a PhD obtained within the last three years or close to completion, and at most three years of postdoctoral experience at the start date. Applications include a publication list marking up to four strongest papers or preprints, a full CV, a description of recent and planned research of up to three pages, and two academic referees whose references must be received before 14 December 2026.
