PhD position
PhD Position in AI for Software Reuse and Agentic Development
Delft University of Technology
- Delft, Netherlands
- Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering
About
In a collaboration between TU Delft's Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science and ING, this PhD project develops techniques that help developers and AI software-engineering agents build on existing software instead of re-implementing it. One direction studies how software assets are discovered, adapted and evolved across large enterprise ecosystems and how agents can be guided to suitable existing components; the other studies the engineering foundations of reliable agentic development, including what context agents need, what makes specifications complete, and when tasks can be reliably delegated. Methods combine AI with repository mining, program and architecture analysis and empirical studies with practitioners.
The application deadline is 1 December 2026.
Requirements
Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence or a related field; research focus with curiosity, data fluency and critical thinking; ability to build experimental prototypes.
